We do estate planning at my firm! It's pretty interesting what people choose to do with their assets and everything. I think you will like it a lot.

I guess I'll be a real estate attorney if that's really what you want!

Well, Todd, I want you to be a real estate attorney [whatever that means]!! Ha ha! Kidding.

I didn't pay as much attention to detail as I should have ;-)

Take care.

Thanks Chessiq. At the very least, it will keep me thinking and learning. Just to clarify (if you're interested), what I'd actually like to do is Estate Planning - setting up trusts and whatnot for individuals. This will involve a variety of real estate and small business issues, but I think I'll technically be an estate planning attorney and not a real estate attorney.

I think it is great that you are going back to school for so many reasons.
First, time is the only thing we have. I think it is best to use it doing things that you enjoy or doing things that will get you to things that you enjoy. Thus, if real estate practice is what you think you would love to do, do what it takes to get there.
Second, you are eliminating one thing that you would otherwise have wondered,..."what if I had gone to school to become a real estate attorney?"
Third, I believe God wastes no experience. Whatever you learn or experience plays a part (hopefully positive) in whatever you become or do.
Fourth...
I guess I should just finish by wishing you good luck!

Thanks Jane. I think it'll be a lot of work. Hopefully it will also be a good experience. I'm planning to keep working and just take one course at a time - so I'm doing it over 4 years. We'll see how manageable that ends up being.

Congratulations on this big decision! I gotta say you got a whole lot on your plate and while I am unfamiliar with the workload of an LLM program I estimate you're going to have to make a lot more room on that plate for the LLM.
