A Lesson in Being a Good Guy

by Todd Metheny on November 5, 2009

I just thought this was an interesting and cool news story, but when this guard was attacked and put in a choke hold by one inmate, other inmates rushed to his aid and even called other guards over the radio to come assist their pal. The reported reason that they helped was because, “Moon’s a good guy.”

I’ve always tried to live by the expression, “you can catch more flies with honey.” I honestly believe it to be true. At the very least, it’s true when it comes to dealing with me. I can be led, but I don’t like to be pushed. Being a good person can’t hurt you in other areas of your life, either. Sooner or later, someday, you’ll surely need help from someone outside your inner circle. It may not be a situation where an inmate has you in a chokehold, but everyone needs a hand from time to time. How you treat people might have something to do with how easy it is to find the help you need. Thanks for reading.

Hi

I couldn’t agree more. There is no point in maknig enemies when you don’t need to. As well as creating potential future allies, being nice to people makes you (and them) feel good about the world.
